Saint Stephen's Alumni - guestbook

Comments:
I was a teacher at St. Stephen's from 1972-1974.
My name was Sister John Adrienne which was changed to Sister Mary Ann s***. I have fond memories of the students at St. Stephen's. I am no longer a sister but still teach in the Philadelphia area. I will try to make the reunion.

St. Stephen's
There are still a few days left to send in checks and get to the reunion. But Please do it today!
and one final note..There are 35 Sisters of St. Joseph attending. Our home page has a link, which lists all the Sisters who are attending, and asks for a contribution of $50.00 for each Sister. We are suprised that out of all our alumni, there are still a number of Sisters that have not received a $50.00 sponsor. All sponsors will be listed in the reunion booklet. Please consider mailing a $50.00 check to the SSS Alumni C/O Tom DellaFranco as outlined on the home page link.
I am sure that our SSJ sponsorships will be good for tons of indulgences.
Thank you.

Jim, According to our listing from the motherhouse, Sister Bernarda was principal @ SSS from 1969 until 1975. Her real (or legal) name was Bernarda Tracey. All of the SSJ who served at SSS, real names, as well as their religious names, and years of service at SSS will be listed in the Reunion Booklet.

Sister Farrell:

Thank you for the information regarding Sister Bernarda and the Pastor. Did you teach at St. Stephens when I did 1969-70. What was Sister's name.

A follow-up about Sister Francis DeSales also known as Sister Peg Hynes. The website for Sacred Heart Church in Camden has some wonderful pictures and 4 stories about her. Go to website and click on "Famous Faces" section and scroll down to Sister Peg Hynes.

Dear Jessica, The story in Classmates was originated by me. Sister Francis DeSales took back her real name as many nuns did and was known as Sister Peg Hynes of Sacred Heart Church in Camden NJ. Some friends who attend Sacred Heart relayed this information to me. If you Google the name of Sister Peg Hynes you will see stories about the car crash where two crack cocaine addicts rammed the car she was a passenger in. Sister Peg was a legend in the city of Camden and truly made a difference in many people's lives. Thank you.

Hello
I remember Miss Tarpy (funny name) she taught one of the lower grades. Attractive woman but never answered when pupils greeted her.

One nun I am in really in mourning regarding is Siser Francis DeSales. I hope the story I am about to relate is untrue. Someone wrote in Classmates.com that she was killed by a hit and run driver. This made me sick. I remember her as strict and no-nonsense but she was the nun who would help anyone with a homework question. It did not matter whether you were in her class or not. She would patiently explain any problems with arithmetic, etc, even during lunch time.

I would be delighted if someone out there can tell me that the Classmates.com story is wrong.

In reply to Jim's 9-6-07 question:
Sister Bernarda died in Feb, 1995. The pastor's name was Father William Tallon. Father Talon is also deceased.
