I asked this before but I don't think anyone answered. I always wondered why one eight grade class was all females, one all males, and one co-ed (I was in the coed class of '62). However this systems was in place for a few years. Does anyone have a clue why?

Every St. Pat's day I remember St. Stephens and being off from school. Also in Lent we were allowed to eat meat that day - gotta have corn beef and cabbage (ham in our house, corn been not in some stores). Next, we were off 2 days later for St. Joseph's day as we were taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph.

I used to feel cheated if either of those days fell on a weekend. A total loss of a day off!

Happy St. Pats to all.

Hi Ed. I opened up am old iPad and immediately saw on the first page your name and comments. I commend you on your consistent involvement in keeping the St Stephen's guest book alive. I always think about your trip from South Philadelphia to the northern county of New Jersey to see and hear the New Sussex Symphony in which I played the cello and served as its President. I did this after retiring in 1992 after serving as a high school principal for twenty years.
Is there anyone around from the Class of 1950?
Also, my sister Sandy from the SS class of 1955 retired as a St Joseph's nun and is living at the St Joseph's Viila in Flourtown, Pa.
It is great to read about St Stephen's graduates the areas where they lived. I was originally from Toronto Street(Broad and Clearfield) then from Jerome Street(Broad and Hunting Park Ave).

Hello Folks,
I looked again at class pictures and a few more names popped into memory. I graduated in 1968. Some additional classmates were: Carmella Napoli, Joan Muller, Belinda Jones, Michael Miller, Keith Walters, Benjamin Blocker, Michael Vaughn, Mary Anne Bezubiak, Richard Williams, John Moore, Vida Rivera, Michael Miller, Yvonne Dennis, Stephen Kilroy, James Odom, Lorraine Roziki (sp), Shirley Archibald, Gail Sawyer, Mary Ellen Thurston. My St. Stephen's grade school classmates, being an altar boy and singing in the choir are some of the fondest memories of my childhood. In closing, I did receive a notice that Sister Helen Francis passed away a few years ago. Be well.

Just read a post that no one has posted since fall last year so I stepped up.

Wish list: an in memory page for classmates who have passed. I understand that going many years back would be incredibly long - so how about starting with 1960? Any comments? Any interest?
